Abilities Development seeks to offer two types of services.

Beyond School 16+ Day Provision

Who? Young people age 16 years and above.


  • day provisions that are personalized to meet the needs of each client as much as is possible.
  • access the community and learn independent life skills, socialisation skills and participate in leisure and recreational activities.
  • all of these are underpinned by the thread of promoting the functional communication, literacy and numeracy skills needed for basic living.


We work with the young person as well as all the people involved in the young person’s life to design appropriate programmes.

Holiday programmes:  activities in and around the community during college and school breaks. Trips to seaside, museums, picnics, visits to discovery centres etc.

Residential Assisted Living Plus / Respite

Our new unit is now open and we are welcoming referrals.  Referrals are accepted from Social services, parents and families and other professionals.

Short Breaks – days out, overnight camps, away overnights and weekends       

These activities will be offered at regular intervals on a monthly basis.  Clients will be chosen in consultation with other services and families.  Young people who receive respite as part of their care package may access this service.

Saturday Club  - 10.30 am - 4pm

This Club offers activities to young people to engage in different activities based on their interests.  Some of the mini-clubs will include: gym club, art and craft club, cycling club, swimming club and cinema club.  Young people will get an opportunity to rotate the clubs that they get involved in.
